Dialogue-baazi (from Mao to Rao)

One quote from the Indian Foreign Secretary says it all.

Political power flows from the barrel of a gun.~Mao

Here is Nirupama Rao’s answer to the sudden surge in media pieces asking India to resume talks with Pakistan.

Karan Thapar: What about the opinion expressed by some analysts that if India were to resume the dialogue process, it might strengthen Islamabad’s hand in delivering on terror?

Nirupama Rao: I know the school of thought and it I think especially has gained some currency in Pakistan in recent months. But let us look at it this way. Terrorism is not a tap you turn on and off because of the absence of or prevalence of dialogue. Dialogue does not flow from the barrel of the gun, Karan.[IBN]

Dialogue does not flow from the barrel of the gun… Well said, Ms. Rao. Take a bow.

  3. Indian MAE baboos & even ministers are only capable of dialouge-bazi with Pak & Chinks & are invariably outclassed by their expertise & professionlism.Consider these two issues–
    (A) 54 Indian POW’s are in Paki jails since 1971 war.Indian MAE is still having DIALOUGE with Pak counterparts on this issue!! & the MOD is sleeping on it.Any self respecting country would have gone to war on the issue.
(B)The whole world is aware that attacks on indians in Australia is being engineered by the Chinks,as part of their overall strategy to prevent indians gaining a foothold in Oz,but the MEA baboos are dialouging!!!

  4. @ask.

There was awrite up in one of the papers recently that stated that one of the celebrated Generals of 1971 conflict, Gen Aurora had taken the govt to court but God called him before the issue could be decided. A gentleman called rao is currently pursuing the case.

I completely agree that it is a shame that our POWs are still is Pak jails when we released more then 90,000 of theirs. Were the Nehruvian genes at work again or what?

While ‘Ask’ questions the civilian leadership, I ask what have the forces done? Has any Chief ever put his job on the line on the subject? it has to be remembered that those who are forgotten by their own are seldom cared for by others. So, the question is valid but it is posed to wrong authorities. It should be the military leadership that is answerable in the first instance. And do not forget Kargil when mutilated bodies of our men were returned and the reaction? So it might be wrong to blame Nehruvian genes because then the NDA was in power and that surely had very little of Nehru!
