Christmas vacation for Australian Navy

Between the intention and the effect falls the shadow. ~Eliot

While the Indian Navy destroyed a pirate mother ship off the Somalian coast, the Australian Navy is getting two months paid holiday during Christmas. It is one of the innovative ways to improve recruitment and retention rates in the Australian Navy.

What next? A no-war pact with enemies during Christmas. And perhaps a request to pirates to take a similar 6-8 weeks off during Christmas. But the pirates, with their lavish lifestyles, should have no such recruiting and retaining issues.

Incidentally, the Australian Navy had earlier cited “holistic needs” of service personnel under Australian defence policy to justify public funding of breast enhancement operations for its female sailors.

  1. It helps to be an island far off into sea. No hostile neighbors breathing down your neck or claiming parts of your land. Nor have the Aborigines learnt to launch terrorist attacks yet.

Its a great thing for any country to have that sort of security. Why ridicule them?

Its not only the location, its also the attitude of the Govt.
Their PM has openly declared that if anybody wants to place ideologies over Nationalism then he/she better find another country.
    Can our Politicians do this?

True. Basically one can’t compare apples and oranges.

…and the same Oz PM lost the last elections. So not that much of a difference.
