Geelani, Osama & Murree brewery

Syed Ali Shah Geelani says this in an interview

Ever since my release from prison on August 7, 2004, I have been spreading my message across Kashmir. I have a three-point programme.

First to impose an Islamic nizam (Islamic system) [in] Kashmir. Islam should govern our lives, be it in our political thought, socio-economic plans, culture or [other…].

The creed of socialism and secularism should not touch our lives, and we must be totally governed by the Koran and the Sunnat (precedents from Prophet Mohammad’s life).

“Secondly, I have been propagating that we must fight against anti-Islamic forces. These forces come in our way under the garb of nationalists, secularists, racists, linguistic chauvinists, and so on.

… Osama has come only during the last few years. People like me have been fighting for this all our lives. I do not want to be compared with Osama.

This doesn’t deserve any comments, except unequivocal reproval from all sections of the society. More so, when today is the ninth seventh anniversary of 9/11.

Tailpiece: Geelani wants Kashmir to join Pakistan. A nation, as I brought out in this comment yesterday, whose head of the state sits in the former head office of a brewery.

Park Lodge a handsome residential properly was purchased by the company[Murree Brewery] from Mrs. H. Whymper in 1888. It was the principal residence and head office of the company till 1959, when it was taken over by the Government of Pakistan to house the office of the President of Pakistan. It remains an office of the Head of State of Pakistan from 1960 till the present day.[Link]

As a friend quipped, “On such spirited foundations is the Pak presidency founded. No wonder!”

“Secondly, I have been propagating that we must fight against anti-Islamic forces. These forces come in our way under the garb of nationalists, secularists, racists, linguistic chauvinists, and so on.

He hates nationalists but he loves the nation of Pakistan! Pakistani nationalism is obviously not anti-Islamic. Where Islam is the foundational basis for the formation of a nation, the evil of nationalism can be excused, because such a nation would serve to advance the interests of Allah.

A character in the recent movie Rambo remarks about Christian missionaries: “Those god-squadders. They come over here, spouting all that shit, they expect the whole world to start working like their fucking neighbor. Well it doesn’t! So they send in the devil himself… [points to himself] …to do god’s work. It’s ironic, isn’t it?”

So it is with Islamic radicals… suicide bombing, killing innocents and all. driving non-Muslims out… everything’s ok as long as it serves to expand the kindgom of Allah.

Therefore, I repeat what I have said earlier on what to do with Geelani – load him up in a large caliber howitzer with a good amount of gun powder under his butt and fire him across the LoC into the land he loves so much.

We don’t have a national policy or organisation for the well being of the Nation. The Australians are very clear. Religion does not override National interests. These jokers like Geelani have been appeased by the State to a stage of arrogance. Not only Geelani but also guys like Raj Thakeray, Karunanidhi and their ilk. Any person who moots separatist ideas should be declared an enemy of the State and treated as such. If we have an intelligence organisation that carries out covert ops against the enemy, then they should be tasked to eliminate these guys. Safe in their politically pampered castles they feel safe enough to bark.
There should be a national plan of subversion to ensure that these guys are sidelined from the political arena and if persistent, eliminated. If the Israelis and Americans can do it why can’t we. After all National interest is paramount.

    Atlantean,

load him up in a large caliber howitzer with a good amount of gun powder under his butt and fire him across the LoC into the land he loves so much.’

I completely endorse your sentiment. The only point where I (presume to) differ is that I would like to create circumstances such that Geelani’s friends should take such a decision. Ideally while doing this they should be self-congratulating themselves for having taking the struggle forward!

If you have an interest in intelligence matters, you’ll probably see what I mean.

    @Menon

You know what th problem is with that kind of thinking.
Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
If left to the PM/ RM/ etc, tomorrow they might consider your writing on this blog as anti national and bump you off.
Or for that matter if you are given the post of Commander of such organisation and forces who eliminate so called anti nationals, even you would bump off your personal enemies.
This blog keeps repeating about the ills perpetrated by the Army Brass. In fact that high handedness of the Brass is a manifestation of this intolerant attitude. The line between acceptable dissent and anti nationalism is thin and shifts with time. Yesterday’s terrorists are todays freedom fighters and tomorrows ”Shaheeds”. For the British; Vasudev Balwant Phadke, Kanhere brothers, Sawarkar, Udham Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad and Bhagat Singh were all terrorists. What we term today as ‘Unacceptable’ may be the ‘in thing’ tomorrow. What, however, is unacceptable is absolute evil. Killing of innocents is evil but so is suppressing dissent. THINK IT OVER.

Pedantic as it may sound, just pointing out a minor, possible typo in:

I am sure you meant ‘seventh’!!

    @12O’ClockHigh:

Thanks for pointing it out. Corrected.

    @ Roke
Erasing personal enemies is when you are a local. You have vested interests. Like the infamous SPOs of the Punjab Police under KPS Gill. The Israelis formed a Hit Team sanctioned by their Parliament with separate teams to track shadow and eliminate enemies of the state. This is how the Munich Massacre was avenged. The Americans even tried to bump off Fidel Castro by arsenic. Recently a Russian double agent was knocked off by the Mi6.
Off course our Int agencies need to be careful. In India after the Charar-e Sharief when the Divisional Commissioner Wajahat Habibullah was driving back he met with an accident with an Army vehicle. The Bureaucrat promptly accused the Army. Who would want to waste time on him?
Udham Singh & Bhagat Singh were fighting against rule by foreigners. If the Afghanis fight against US or Soviet occupation it may later be termed as a freedom struggle. But if Saudis, Pakistanis and a bunch of terrorists create problems in the Valley then I don’t see any way where they can at any stage in history be called freedom fighters or Jihadis. They are just Terrorists. Anyone who supports their actions is also a terrorist and an enemy of the state. If Geelani is a Kashmiri and is true to the people of Kashmir then let him fight the secessionist forces that have driven the Kashmiri pundits out of their homeland. Let him raise the voice for the people of Kashmir and not for Saudis, Afghanis, Pathans, Sudanese who get a few rupees from the Pakis and hide behind crowds to create problems.
I do agree that the govt of India is weak and hypocritical in its policies. We keep crying for US and others implant Sanctions against Pakistan whereas we talk of MNF and improving trade with them. If we assume these foreign terrorists can fight for the freedom of Kashmir why can’t the Kashmiri Pundits also fight for freedom of POK Why can’t we have the same type of freedom struggle in POK? If foreigners can help the Jihadis why cant ‘foreigners’ help the Kashmiri pundits in their struggle for a free POK?
When Mehbooba Syed was taken a hostage her father Mufti Syed released terrorists who later on were involved in the Hijack of IC 814 and 9/11. Today this dame talks the same language of terrorists against the very same country which went down on its knees to rescue her. Some gratefulness? It’s a mugs game. By appeasing the leaders we are abetting their acts. Kashmir is an integral part of India and the message should go out in no uncertain terms. But will our politicians do it? They are busy frigging every part of the country. J&K is just another one.
With the Yanks crossing the border to ferret out the terrorists you know where the Pakis will dump them. Kashmir. Where the likes of Geelani will say they are “Freedom Fighters’

    @ kashmir

If you are a true Kashmiri call back your brothers – the Kashmiri Pundits whom yoy brutally threw out from the valley in 1989 under orders from your masters. Stop genicde against Kashmiri minorities. How can you who calls yourself Kashmir and feels you are mature enough for self determination carry out the genocide of Kashmiri minorities by attacking Kashmiri pundits. Who controls you? If you are a man worth your parentage stop supporting terrorism – only Hijadas support opression of minrities.
    Are you one?
